Heart Pocket with Cheeky Chat!

Call me a Drag Queen and I'll take it as a compliment!  I adore Drag Queens, especially the girls who rock the animal print, glitter, heart shapes and oversized flowers ALL AT ONCE!  YASS!  You can say this card is somewhat Drag inspired! ;)

First of all, I found the "Pattern for Heart Pocket" in a Trading Cards Techniques & ATC's book 03382 by Suzanne McNeill and just HAD to try it!  Since high school I have loved book making and this pattern brought me back to the good 'ol days in my Art class, where we got to create our own book patterns.  I made one with a handle, and I still have it!  Books are an art in and of themselves.

Each Side of the Heart Pocket/Envelope

The heart shape I used is from the Fiskars Shape Template Hearts-1 Victorian Border.  I used the 3.50" heart by tracing it with a pencil and then cutting it out with an x-acto knife.

If you wanted to add embellishments, it would be a good idea to do so before you glue the front and back together.  I did not.  I folded, glued and then decorated.  It worked out ok but take the liberty, while it is all flat and open to work it!

I made the entire card to be a standard 4"x 5.5" card size.

Empty Envelope

Next, I slipped the blank black card in, saw where the window was, and glued the heart I had already cut out nicely through the window, using the opposite side of the heart (zebra pattern) onto the black removable card!  The paper I used (by Teresa Collins) was double sided, which made the zebra really pop with the solid pink!

I used a small circle punch for the thumb grab near the top, front, center.

Card half-way in

Once the envelope and card were pretty much made, I stamped and embellished as usual with one of my favorite Greeting Card Rubber Stamps:  Cheeky Chat!!!

I hope you enjoy this mini tutorial!!! :D  It is fun to venture out and use a new template for card making!  It may take a little more time but boy it can be a lot more FUN! And Cheeky! ;)

WS Elena

We have another HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT for you today. Announcing our 2nd annual "CARDS FOR A CAUSE" event!

Last year you really brought us to tears and smiles on our faces with our 1st card drive. Due to it's success, we are rallying the troops again for a 2nd one and well, we're making it ANNUAL!

This year, we were moved beyond measure with so many emotions for the people of Japan as we watched live video of the earthquakes and tsunami that devastated so many people on March 11, 2011. It broke my heart to see videos of families in shelters, children looking terrified and not understanding what happened. Some of those families lost everything and when our loyal TGF customer Natalie Shaw emailed me a link to a school that we could send in handmade encouragement cards for children, we knew this was going to be something TGF wanted to be involved in! Our images are PERFECT to cheer up a child and we really hope you will play along!

Please view the tabbed page on the TGF Blog entitled "Cards for a Cause" for all the information on how YOU can help...and possibly, WIN some serious loot from TGF! PLEASE JOIN US!

As for 'loot' today, well, you know the drill! ONE lucky commenter who completes the hop and comes back to the TGF Blog to leave a comment will be drawn to WIN the ENTIRE May Release!

Without any further adieu, here is the order of our Farmers' BLOG HOP for release day:

You will have until 11:59 pm CST TONIGHT to comment and become a follower and we will happily announce the winner tomorrow morning on the TGF Blog!

GOOD LUCK, ENJOY and HAPPY RELEASE DAY, everyone!!!

P.S.
If you have any questions about my card or technique, you may email me at buttercupblogs at gmail dot com.

Monochromatic March Madness with TGF!

Hello Everyone!

Happy Farm Fresh Friday! Today we are celebrating March Madness by making a monochromatic card or project using The Greeting Farm stamps! I chose to keep my colored image separate from the monochromatic papers and patterns. Yes, her bathing suit is orange but I refrained from "oranging up" her skin and hair.

"Cheeky Beach" is SUPERCUTE and makes me long for a day on the beach!

Happy Crafting Everyone! Know you are welcome to share your Monochromatic March Madness cards with everyone at TGF's Splendid Stamping Blog here.

Thank You for stopping by! I wish you warm sunshine, relaxing breezes and good company in your days to come! (And today too!!! :)

Use Up Your X-mas Stash this FFF with TGF

Hello Everyone!

Christmas is SO "Last Year" isn't it? It seems like it was so long ago but it was really just a couple months ago! Still, like many of you, I may have a little extra holiday flare hanging out in my scrap paper bins!!! Thinking, "Oh, I'll use this NEXT year!" and maybe I will! ;)

This Farm Fresh Friday, The Greeting Farm challenges us to bust out our holiday papers, trims, tapes, brads, glitter, buttons-ANYthing holiday-y, and put it to good use on a project for either today, or maybe this Christmas!? Have fun with it! I personally enjoy making an "out of season" card. It's nice to play with snow and gingerbread images, just to go take a stroll in the warm sun...

For my card, I used "Miss Anya Dressy" by The Greeting Farm. I love aprons! Different aprons for cooking, cleaning, painting and crafting! Here, Miss Anya has just finished tasting her batch of freshly made gingerbread men! Yum!

Happy Farm Fresh Friday to you all!

And Good Luck! As one lucky participant will with a Cheeky Beach stamp!!!

Have a fabulous day!

Love,

Buttercup :) xo

Introducing "Little Dreamer" by TGF

Do you remember when you were little and you would wish upon the stars? You would dream, imagine and hope. My wish is that you honor the little girl inside of you. Break your diet and eat ice cream :) Take a break from your paperwork to jump on a trampoline. Slow down. Sit on a bench and watch the stars put on a show.

I must admit I am so tickled with Little Dreamer by The Greeting Farm because it is BEYOND cute. This set is inspiring and reminds me of the little kids we once were and still are. The sentiment and images remind me of the support I was lucky enough to receive as a child. The encouragement to follow my bliss, believe in myself and keep trucking along. Being a "Sign Artist" in the day and a stage actress by night, I appreciate any positive feedback and encouragement I can get :)

Know Little Dreamers that Great Things Will Happen! Hard work and a positive attitude go a long way :)

"I'm a great believer in luck, and I find that the harder I work, the more of it I have. " ~Thomas Jefferson
