Heart Pocket with Cheeky Chat!

Call me a Drag Queen and I'll take it as a compliment!  I adore Drag Queens, especially the girls who rock the animal print, glitter, heart shapes and oversized flowers ALL AT ONCE!  YASS!  You can say this card is somewhat Drag inspired! ;)

First of all, I found the "Pattern for Heart Pocket" in a Trading Cards Techniques & ATC's book 03382 by Suzanne McNeill and just HAD to try it!  Since high school I have loved book making and this pattern brought me back to the good 'ol days in my Art class, where we got to create our own book patterns.  I made one with a handle, and I still have it!  Books are an art in and of themselves.

Each Side of the Heart Pocket/Envelope

The heart shape I used is from the Fiskars Shape Template Hearts-1 Victorian Border.  I used the 3.50" heart by tracing it with a pencil and then cutting it out with an x-acto knife.

If you wanted to add embellishments, it would be a good idea to do so before you glue the front and back together.  I did not.  I folded, glued and then decorated.  It worked out ok but take the liberty, while it is all flat and open to work it!

I made the entire card to be a standard 4"x 5.5" card size.

Empty Envelope

Next, I slipped the blank black card in, saw where the window was, and glued the heart I had already cut out nicely through the window, using the opposite side of the heart (zebra pattern) onto the black removable card!  The paper I used (by Teresa Collins) was double sided, which made the zebra really pop with the solid pink!

I used a small circle punch for the thumb grab near the top, front, center.

Card half-way in

Once the envelope and card were pretty much made, I stamped and embellished as usual with one of my favorite Greeting Card Rubber Stamps:  Cheeky Chat!!!

Heart Pocket & Card

Materials Used:
Rubber Stamp: Cheeky Chat by The Greeting Farm
Clear Stamp: "You Rock" from idk but I did get it from Michael's
"Hi Gurl!" from Stampabilities Vintage Type Alphabet, Uppercase Set

Distress Ink: Broken China & Peacock Feathers (on "Hi Gurl!")
Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms Die
scrap black ribbon
black pen
grunge board detail on bottom, left corner
washi tape along the bottom

Copics Used:
Skin: E000, E00, E11, E13, R20, RV00
Pants: R20, R85, RV93, E93, BV11, R81
Top: E51, E11

Inky Background Challenge with Simon Says!

WHO DOESN'T LOVE an Inky Background Challenge? :D

Hello Everyone!

I hope 2015 finds you well rested and full of good cheer thus far!  Below is a card I made for the Simon Says Challenge this week.  The challenge is to create an Inky Background!  In doing so, I used Broken China Distress Ink around the edges of the heart and Sunflower Glimmer Mist around the edges of the image!

Materials Used:
Inkadinkado Stamp 60-00575
Copic Markers
Gold & Diamond Stickles
Sunflower Glimmer Mist
Broken China Distress Ink

I just ADORE this stamp!  The image of the girl sitting on the couch reminds me of myself and one of my bestest friends!!!  Friendship must always involve a couch!  Does it not?  Hand holding, flower exchanging, side-eye-giving-these are just a couple of ingredients which make the best of friendships.  Think about it.  Have you not given some side eye to your closest friends?  I bet you have.

Thank You ALL for blogging by and I wish you a most supremely happy day, to the highest extent!!!

Love,

        Buttercup xoxo

New Beginnings with Tiddly Inks!

New Beginnings Card with Tiddly Inks Images

Hello and Happy New Year Crafters!!!

I am so happy to have made some time to color and craft with some of my favorite Tiddly Ink's images!  Charles's Tulips and Owlette are the characters in this card.  They make a gorgeous pair!  Do I have a "Charles" to my "Owlette"?  No, not yet!  But I am aiming to be more open to giving and receiving love in 2015.  I tend to emerge myself into my writing, acting, performance, art projects, I leave no room or opportunities for dating.  So this year, I hope to at least entertain the IDEA of dating!  And let's hope he is as cute as "Charles's Tulips"! :D

2015 Get Into It! SDC177

Get Into It for 2015!

Hello Craft Enthusiasts!

Stampotique's Designer Challenge 177 is to make a creation pertaining to your New Year's Resolution using a rubber or a cling stamp!  Details for the challenge are here.

I stumbled a bit, deciding on a resolution.  I don't really do resolutions.  While crafting I listened to my favorite podcast, You Made It Weird hosted by Pete Holmes. You can listen to it here.  It's for mature audiences, has adult themes, language and is full of comedy and spiritual talk.  In other words, it's PERFECT! For this Buttercup anyway ;).  The reason I bring You Made It Weird into this, is because the host always says, "Get into it!" or "Let's get into it!" when his guest is about to dive into a heavy topic or share an exciting story.  And that's when I knew-there it is!  My resolution is to Get Into It!

My 2015 is going to be about Getting Into it!  All of it! I am in a sketch troupe and we have a show coming up in a month which we are still writing.  I am going to GET INTO it and write, create characters and just be more into it than ever.  Tomorrow I have an audition for a commercial and yeah, I'm going to be incredibly silly and get into playing this silly enthusiastic part.  I'm just going to devote myself more to the present moment, even typing this up with fervor and excitement.  Because this moment folks, this is it.  If you pour your heart into the present, you will hear what is not being said and know who needs a hug or a snack.  And sometimes, it might be you.  And that is ok.

My wish is for us all to be more open, honest and trusting of ourselves first.  To calm ourselves and hear what our heart is saying.  This past week mine has been saying, "MAKE CARDS! ORGANIZE YOUR CRAFT SUPPLIES!  CLEAN YOUR BATHROOM EXTRA CLEAN!" So, I did, and I feel great.  And now my heart is saying, "Tell the people in the blogesphere to chill and listen and be honest with themselves in 2015…and beyond!".

So now you know the origin of the saying on this card.  Now, for the card:

stamps by Daniel Torrente from Stampotique:
Smushallaum
Smumauha
materials used: copics, watercolor, black & white marker, brads, glue, diamond stickles, lips sticker, dylusions ranger rubber wooden stamps alphabet set, green pom pom trim

Thank You all for taking the time to stop by!  Now, let's get into it!!! :D

Love,

Just "Hi" from Beanie Anya-Card!

Handmade Card Just to say "Hi"

Hello Everyone!

This is a card I made just for fun for a friend who has moved to the Northwest!  Life happens so fast sometimes, and friends who used to be a quick drive away, are now long flights away!  But that doesn't mean we're not still friends!  So, to say "Hi", I made this little card.

Beanie Anya is perfect for the "bundled up" look I was going for.  Below the pics are supply details.  Thank You so much for taking a peek!  Thank You also, to those of you who share your art on your blogs.  I hope you know your generous spirit and innovative designs are inspiring and appreciated!  Thank You!

Copic Marker Colors Used:
HAIR: E35, E31, E50, E53, YR21, Y21
SKIN: E02, E93, E000, R02, E11, R20, E13, E00
BEANIE: E59, E15, YR14, E26, E39, B14
SCARF:  YG41, YG63, YG45
BOOTS: E18, E13

I hope this little card reminds you to say "hi".  As simple as that sounds, it can be a great start to reconnect and let a friend know you are there for them!

Thank You for stopping by!  Happy New Year!!! :D

Happy "Holiday Glam" for the Farm Fresh Friday Challenge!

"Holiday Glam" Card for The Greeting Farm's first
Farm Fresh Friday Challenge
of
2015!

Hello Crafters from Near and Far!

I hope 2015 finds you with a peaceful mind and an open heart, ready to create!  It has been YEARS since I have participated in a Farm Fresh Friday Challenge and I am so happy to be back at card making!!!

I chose Jill from the Creepin Creeper Crew Collection 1 as well as "Thanks" from the Hello-Go-Round set.  Any girl with an attitude and a cute poofy dress makes me giggle and needs to be adored by the blogesphere!

Jill has been colored in Copics and bedazzled a bit in Gold Stickles and Diamond Stickles!  I used Bubblegum Pink Dylusions Ink Spray for Jill's bright, splashy background!  The diamond frame background is actually from an Eau de Parfum Spray box which I just have not been able to part with because it is SO FAB (It originally housed Nicki Minaj's Minajesty parfum which I do love :D )  So to me, this card says GLAMOR all the way!  It has sparkle, Jill is adorned in black and gold and I'm not sure if she is ready to party or done with the party, but nonetheless, she is working that headband like no other creeper can!

I would like to take a moment to THANK the GREETING FARM for making some stamps showcasing girls with attitude and spunk!  They bring me so much joy.  Thank You!

Thank You all for taking a look!  Happy New Year!!!

Love,
         Buttercup :) xoxo
