Step Away From the Doll!

Hello Everyone!

Long time no blog! I hope this finds you comfy and cozy, enjoying 2011 as it is coming to a close!

This piece I am sharing with you today is a commissioned work meant to represent a specific person who shall remain nameless.

I am kind of in love with him. The doll. Not the person. Although, he is a lovely person...we just are not each other's types ;) ;)

Anyway, back to the subject of this doll: As for what he is made of, he has wire innards, along with floral tape, paper clay everything else, some wood in there too, acrylic paints, pieces of foam, satin and matte varnish, black sparkles for the pants...a little box, and that's about it. Oh, and tons and tons of love <3

Not including his box, he measures just under 5.5" in height! He's a tiny fella with tons of sass!

Why this was an exciting job for me: GLASS EYES! This is my first time working with glass eyes. Usually I just paint them on, but working with more realistic eyeballs is super fun. It ups both the creepy and cute factor at the same time. And I am a total fan of each! These are brown flat back oval glass eyes size 6mm (which were the smallest ones I could find in my neighborhood. Online, you can find even smaller ones!)

Please email me and ask me anything at buttercupblogs at gmail dot com.

Thank You! And Have a Great rest of the year!!!

Love,

Buttercup :) XOXO

Mix 'N Match with Tiddly Inks & Make it Crafty!

Hello Tiddly Inks & Make it Crafty fans!!!

What a fun project it was to merge two digi stamp companies, combining one's backgrounds with another's characters! As you can see, I went with a chaise lounge from Make it Crafty and a mermaid from Tiddly Inks! I am sure there must be some furniture at the bottom of the ocean! This card reminds me of the scene from Disney's The Little Mermaid, when she is singing about her thingamajigs!

As for Supplies: Copics, Diamond Stickles, flower sequins, little brads, netting

Thank You for checking in!!!

May your day go swimmingly! (pun intended) :)

Just a Hunk by Stampotique

Hi There!

How about "ahunka ahunka burning love"? For a long while now I have been yearning to bust out "Hunk" by Stampotique, and finally the occasion has presented itself. One of my very special friends is going through somewhat of a life funk. I made this little card for him to remind him to put his crown on and PLAY!!! Even though he has yet to receive this card, he somehow got the message and is presently enjoying a trip to London with his boyrfriend! How fun does that sound?

Here he is! As for Supplies: "Hunk" and "2 sticks" by Daniel Torrente for Stampotique/colored in copics/ticket by hotlz/diamond stickles/scraps of paper

Thank You for stopping by!

Practicing Simplicity

Ever feel like a mermaid at the bottom of the sea? thinking, "someone told me there were plenty of fish, where are they?" Not that I'm looking, or a bottom-of-the-sea-mermaid or anything. Not that I wouldn't mind a hunky merman flipping his glowy bronze self my way; or anything. Not that. Not that. Not that. Or anything.

But if I was mermaid, I would have hot, red electric hair, I would wear a turquoise bikini top and have a purple tail. And my name would be...super exotic....like...what you would find on the bottom of an OPI nail polish bottle. Not like Carmen Electra or Spartacus, Not like "Tutti Frutti Tonga" or "Lincoln Park After Dark" but...something so super amazing, I just can't even think of right now.
And with that super amazing name, I would swim aroun
d and save drunken sailors. I might even rescue a couple of bees and maybe even some turtles that get lost from the pack. I would definitely eat seaweed. And I would never have to worry about what shoes to wear. But knowing me, I would probably fall in love with a dolphin...and then I would spend my nights daydreaming, poached on some picturesque black rock, ima
gining how my life would be if I was a dolphin. After practicing my dolphin noises, I would realize I was never going to be a dolphin, and then blog about it. In bubbles. Like telepathically. And then the bubble would float to the shore, and it would pop at the tail of my merman to be. And he would sense my scaly presence and open merheart and you know...the rest is happily ever history.

But until then, here's a glimpse of a Super Exotically Named Mermaid at The Bottom of the Sea.

(if you actually read the aboveness, you can sense I have had a few ounces of caffeine too many!)

Thank You for checking in, for stopping by, for being here!

As for Supplies:

But before all that, here's a little character I made a couple days ago.

Farewell to The Greeting Farm!!! xoxo

Hello Everyone! :)

I hope you are well rested and enjoying your summer:)

For the past six months, I have enjoyed being on the Design Team for The Greeting Farm stamp company based out of Colorado. I feel so fortunate to have grown in my paper craft abilities and to have learned from the talented design team members, farmers and challenge participants! I will miss the TGF journey and I hope we can continue to grow together as I venture off into creating my own designs and working more with others as well :)

And here, I will allow Cheeky Beauty to blow you all a kiss, imagining it is me in stamp form :) hee hee.

I agree wholeheartedly with the sentiment, "Time to follow your DReams!" Venture off, explore, knock on doors and soar! I have learned a lot from all of you craft enthusiasts here in Blogger Town and I Thank You for walking on Strawberry Road with me.

If you have any questions or comments please feel free to email me at buttercupblogs at gmail dot com.

Onwards and Upwards!!!

Original Design by Me :)

Last night I couldn't get to sleep. I went back and forth from reading, to staring at the wall...and finally decided to get a pen and paper and doodle. Today, I colored in that doodle, and it turned into this.

I must say, I forgot how much fun it is to draw...and how natural it flows...I am so grateful to have a handful of great artist friends all around the world who continue to push on and pursue their passion...Seeing others live their artistic dreams inspires me and fills my heart with hope.

Why I drew a mermaid in clothes, I cannot tell you. Maybe she's a little more modest than most mermaids. Or a human wannabe. She has a few props in her hair, almost like an "i spy" lady. I would love to hear what your interpretation of her hair props are.

She is colored in the usual copics, diamond stickles, and the sentiment is from a Tim Holtz clear stamp collection.

One of my goals is to eventually have my designs available for your use...it's a work in progress and I am at the very beginning stages of making that happen...what do you think? or prefer? Digis or rubber?

Anyway, thank you sleepless nights...and mumbling brain...and paper and pen for helping me stay sane :)

Much Love to all you art enthusiasts! I sincerely appreciate your precious time :)

Love,

Buttercup :) xoxo

Cute & Simple TGF Cards

Hello & Welcome!

Angel Anya has been one of my favorite Anyas for a long time! She has a softness and a warmth to her which makes her the perfect image for a variety of more sentimental cards. Chelsea on the other hand, is much more lively and energetic! So here they are, using similar paper backgrounds and similar copic colors! Even with similar mediums, their images and the whole feel of these cards greatly contrast, at least to me :)

Where Have I Been?

Hello Bloggers!

How I have missed you! And crafting!!! I am happy to say I have just closed a show with The Southwest Shakespeare Company! The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde! I played Gwendolen and I had an absolute BLAST! It was a remount of their previous production so I stepped in for an actress (a talented woman by the name of Justine who could not do this show as she was in another). It was a Wilde Whirlwind of which I thoroughly enjoyed and would do it again at the drop of a hat!

Below is a pic of Yours Truly as Gwendolen Fairfax!

And here are the characters: Algernon, Gwendolen, Jack & Lady Bracknell
(don't they all look handsome?)

I wish I had a photo of the entire cast :( But these will have to do for now!

I hope you enjoy this very tiny slice of my non-paper-crafting life! May you have a day filled with beautiful words, funny people and flavorful foods!

Love,

Buttercup :) xoxo
